Throughout his life, Nichidatsu Fujii practiced a path to peace based upon Buddhist ideals. Today, the order that he founded, Nipponzan Myohoji (the Japan Buddha Sangha), carries on this work through walks, construction of pagodas dedicated to peace, and their constant practice of prayer.

The Longest Walk 2

On Feb. 11th, Longest Walk participants will embark on a 5 month journey from San Francisco to Washington, D.C. arriving on July 11th. The Longest Walk south route is being led by AIM co-founder Dennis J. Banks. It is an extraordinary grassroots effort on a national level to bring attention to the environmental disharmony of Mother Earth, sacred site issues, and to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original longest walk. Tranquil is This World of Mine

A collection of teachings by Nichidatsu Fujii has been recently released. This work brings into focus the works of Guruji and his message of nonviolence, service, and a path to peace based on Buddhist practice. As the world faces new challenges and conflicts, his words continue to be relevant to those who seek peace. Yumiko Miyazaki's translations make this teaching available to a broader audience.
