Nichidatsu Fujii went to India and became a part of Gandhi's ashram at Wardha. Fujii's prayers were incorporated into the rituals at the ashram, a tradition that remains today. Gandhi gave Fujii the title, "Guruji." Gandhi's descendants have continued to express their support for the work of Nipponzan Myohoji.
